Snow Child by: Eowyn Ivey

I won this book from goodreads/first Reads

I have to say this book is a wonderful book.  I believe this is a debut novel of Eowyn Ivey and I can't wait for the next.  I enjoyed this book so much.

Snow Child begins with a couple who are starting a new life in Alaska.  The couple have some things from their past that are making it hard to cope and decide that a new adventure may be what they need to get them through it.  But Alaska goes from hard to harder with all the struggles that come with it.  Seclusion and the hard work and the cold climate make harder on them.

One evening they decide to build a snow child as a means of finding a small amount of joy in this otherwise joyless kind of existance they've made for themselves.  When they begin seeing a child hiding in the woods, the story begins to take you on a different course that resembles an old Russian Fairy Tale that Mabel, one of the main characters, was read over and over as a child.
The story continues with twists and turns that make Jack, Mabel and the snow child a real family and find some happiness and some sorrow.  I hope I haven't given away to much of the story so I'll stop there.

I very highly recommend this book to anyone.  Adults and Young adults. You won't regret reading it.  I gave it 5 stars and plan to read it again.
