The characters are believable in this novel, they could be anyone you know in your own life. This book takes you through a tragic childhood of Joleens, a marriage to Micheal that has disintegrated over the years, the struggles that come with children, the tragedies of war, the loss of a personal friend, and the list goes on. I loved the depth of characters in this book. It's heart wrenching to read how service men and women have to deal with the challenges of war and it's effects on their families after they get home. This book is about trying to repair torn relationships dispite how bad things have become and making decissions at the crossroads in their lives. This is a great book and I highly recommend it.
